Obituary

Zennie W. Peck, age 94 of Stratford, the beloved widow of Clarence A. Peck, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 200 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Roanoke, Virginia on December 28, 1927 to the late Elmer C. and Geneva (Hartman) Weaver, she has been a longtime Stratford resident. Zennie was retired from Philips Medical where she was a Traffic Manager. In Addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Thomas Gregory Peck, daughter, MaryEllen Peck, a grandson, Adam Robert Peck, brothers, Maynard and Delano Weaver, sisters, Venie Brinson and Claudine Broughan. Survivors include her devoted children, Dayv and Daniel Peck, Nancy Kuhn and her husband Richard and Danette Broadhurst and her companion Arthur Woodin, her cherished grandchildren, Amy Detore, Dana Broadhurst, Benjamin Broadhurst, Kerilyn Peck and James Daniel Peck, great-grandchildren, Sophie Detore Genesis Gaulin, brother, Josiah C. Weaver, sisters, Rainey Benedict, Bonnie James, June Burks and Gloria Brown, several nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Peck focused on raising their five children and on the Christmas before their 40th wedding anniversary, the children surprised them with a trip to Hawaii. That trip started their amazing trek around the world. Together with friends and family they explored many National Parks and Hawaii twice. They traveled to the Caribbean, Mexico, London, Spain, Ireland, Italy and Madagascar. They watched the tide come in at the famous Bay of Fundi, walked on the Great Wall of China and went into the Catacombs in Xi'an China to view the Terracotta Army. Together, they explored Australia and the Fiji Islands. Their last trip together was to Egypt, where they walked on sacred ground in Jerusalem, viewed The Great Temple of Petra in Jordan and got up at 1:30 in the morning to get into a hot air balloon in Luxor to glide over the Valley of The Kings at sunrise. Shortly afterwards, Clarence lost his valiant fight with cancer.

Zennie continued traveling with her children. She has traveled to Vermont, Florida, California, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Alabama.  She also took family members on a cruise through the Panama Canal!  Zennie has lived her life based on her church upbringing in Virginia with a strong faith in God. One of her favorite sayings is, "Stand up, speak the truth and let the wind hit you in the face." She came from humble beginnings and was blessed with an amazing, full life. She was an extraordinary woman who touched and helped so many people. We can just imagine Mom and Dad dancing the Polka until they can't dance anymore. May they both continue living and loving in God's beautiful heaven!

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022 meeting directly at 10AM in White Oak Baptist Church, 5344 Main Street Stratford with Zennie's former pastor, Barry Brown officiating. Interment will be in Mountain Grove of Easton Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 PM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
