Wylie A. Meath, age 82, of Monroe, beloved husband of Pauline Popovich Cagle Meath, passed away on February 22, 2024.
Wylie was born in Bridgeport on May 2, 1941, to the late Albert and Louise (Haug) Meath and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. Wylie was an ordained Subdeacon, serving at the former parish of St. John's Orthodox Church Silver Lane, Stratford, and Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, Danbury. Wylie was also a proud, active member of AA for many years.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his children, Laura Meath Fracker, Patrick Meath, stepchildren, Keith Cagle and Stephanie Ehnot, grandchildren, Mark, Melissa, and John, great-grandson, Jace, a brother, Donald and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wylie was pre-deceased by his brother, Christopher, sister, Louise, and stepdaughter, Cheryl (Sallie) Des Biens.
A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m., meeting directly at the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport. Interment with full military honors will follow at State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown.
The Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
