JANOVICH – Our beloved brother William "Bill" Janovich, age 64, of Stratford was called home suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, July 24 2005 leaving us with heavy hearts. Born in Bridgeport to the late John and Mary Gayda Janovich, he was a lifelong area resident. Bill was a retired mail clerk for American Chain & Cable Company. He was a member of the YMCA, the Baldwin Center Men's Club, the St James Council of the Knights of Columbus and an avid duckpin bowler. He also called numbers and worked the refreshment stand at St James Bingos. Bill loved so many things – he loved everything and everybody. He was cheerful and appreciative of everything people did for him. He loved all forms of communications, and loved calling radio stations STAR 99.9 and WICC to answer their quiz questions. He especially loved baseball, especially the New York Yankees and locally the Raybestos Brakettes. He could quote every statistic for the teams, games won and lost, batter's statistics, pitcher's stats, RBI's and ERA's. He loved the teams with a passion. Bill's greatest gift was being able to tell you on which day of the week a certain date fell. , no matter what decade. If you gave him your birth date, he could tell you the date of the week you were born. Though time and distance separated him from his beloved sister Eleanor, the bond was never broken. Beloved sisters Midge and Mary, closer to home, took care of his immediate needs. And there were so many friends who drove him to his appointments, Sunday Mass, Bingo and included him in their family gatherings. The Shelton Hurricane Marching Band considered him a part of their team. Bill grew up without his parents, and it is comforting to think they were with him when he died, waiting to welcome him home. There he will have no physical limitations. He will be whole, free of the cerebral palsy that limited him in this life, free to walk and dance in God's own Heaven. May his life be a reminder of his inspiration to all to do special acts of kindness when we see one of God's special Saints on earth. Survivors include two brothers John Janovich and his wife Margaret of Hampton, VA and Robert Janovich and his wife Ann of Oxford; six sisters Mary Argonese and Margarit Burel both of Stratford, Frances Beaumont of Fairfield, Eleanor Sullivan and her husband Dan of Summerfield, FL, Terrry Hurley and Elizabeth Sembiante and her husband Bill all of Stratford, several nieces and nephews and two special friends Hal Peck of Milford and Gerry Mohyde of Stratford. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:30 A.M. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and at 10:30 A.M. in St James Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 P.M. Those desiring may make donations in his memory to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation or the March of Dimes through the funeral home.
