William P. Janega, age 90, of Seymour, beloved husband of Ethel Riley Janega, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 in Griffin Hospital. Bill, a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II was born in Bridgeport to the late Joseph and Josephine (Dekan) Janega and has been a life long area resident. He was a retired Carpenter for Architectural Kitchens of Stratford. Bill was an active member of St. Mark Church, Stratford where he was an Usher and was involved in Boy Scout Troop #177 for over fifty years as Scout Master. He was also involved for many years in the National Slovak Society where he was currently serving as Treasurer. Bill enjoyed Polka music, making woodworking projects as gifts for family and friends and canning pickles. Survivors in addition to his wife include his devoted children, William Janega and his wife Dale of Washington, Joanne Basiuk and her husband John of Brookfield, Karen Trinks and her husband Steve of Wallingford, 5 grandchildren Billy (Melissa) Janega, Michael (Ana) Janega, Vicky (Jake) Butler, Lauren Basiuk and John Basiuk Jr., 2 step-children, David Albright and his wife Deborah of AZ, and Margreta-Albright Cocuzzo and her husband David of Bethlehem, 3 step-grandchildren, Matthew, Meaghan and Joshua Cocuzzo, a sister, Ruth Janega of Stratford, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was pre-deceased by his first wife Elizabeth Herman Janega and his brother Joe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12th at 10 a.m. in St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Inurnment with full military honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet his family on Friday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.
