Caple

William T. Caple, age 85, of Monroe, formerly of Stratford, beloved husband of Phyllis Kasinak Caple, passed away peacefully with his beloved family by his side on July 11, 2022, in Bridgeport Hospital.
Bill was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on September 8, 1936, to the late William F., and Catherine Thomas Caple and had been a longtime area resident. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and a retired Production Manager for the Bargain News.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 60 years, include his devoted children, William J. Caple and his wife Alice of Ansonia, Beth Caple of Seymour, and Karyn McCarthy and her husband Ken of Monroe, 7 cherished grandchildren, William, Michael, and Kaitlyn Caple, Lauren Kovacs, and Tyler, Kelly, and Jenna McCarthy, brother, Paul Caple and his wife Sue of Florida, sister-in-law, Jacqueline Warren of Monroe, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Mary Maiocco and her husband Richard, and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Walsh, and her husband Robert.
Bill grew up in Yellow Mill Village on the lower East side of Bridgeport and later moved to Trumbull in his teens. As a young boy he worked for his Godfather at Babe's Meat Market and later on at Toothill's Pharmacy where he learned to establish a hard work ethic early on in life. Bill went on to graduate from Bullard Havens in 1954 from the Print Shop Department. He later enlisted in the Navy in 1957 for 2 years and in the reserves until 1962. He met the love of his life Phyllis Kasinak in 1960 on a blind date, and they were married on September 2, 1961. Bill moved his family to Stratford in 1965 where he resided for 54 years until moving to Monroe in 2019. They had 3 wonderful children Billy, Beth and Karyn who he loved and adored with all his heart. During that time in the 1960s he worked his way up from typesetter to Foreman at Shields Print Shop in Bridgeport and was later recruited in 1978 to work at the now legendary Bargain News in Stratford as a Production Manager. It was at Bargain News where he met two people who were fresh out of high school, Mike Audet and Debra Kandro, who considered him to be a mentor and surrogate Dad. Despite their age differences their friendships lasted until the day he passed. In his spare time Bill enjoyed his side job as a professional Wedding Photographer in the 1970s operating right out of his home. Converted half of a two-car garage as a studio and turning half of the basement into a darkroom. When he wasn't photographing beautiful Brides, he was photographing his children at all stages of life. From a newborn to a wannabe punk rock teenager. He also belonged to the Pequonnock Camera Club where he won awards for his photographs and made new friends. Bill also enjoyed other hobbies and pastimes, making stained glass lamps, and woodworking projects such as footstools, shelves and bookshelves for his family members and anyone who wanted one. He improved his cooking skills in retirement making such family favorites as spaghetti Bolognese and Cajun Pork Roast. Bill also enjoyed the sport of racquetball, playing it for decades at the Stratford Racquetball Club and making lifelong friendships there as well. Bill volunteered his time coaching his sons' Little League team in the 1970s and continued to coach other children long after his son outgrew the League. Bill loved all kinds of music from the music of his youth Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and The Beatles, to making sure his daughter Beth had a copy of the song "Beth" by Kiss on a 45 record. He was delighted to gift her that record. But his all-time favorite music was Country music/Southern Rock and his all-time favorite artist was Garth Brooks. His dream of seeing Garth in concert came true when his daughters gifted him with tickets in 1997 and had floor seats for this legendary performer. He always said it was his favorite concert. He also enjoyed rooting for the Boston Red Sox and the New York Giants. Bill had a special place in his heart for all animals but loved dogs the most. He never got over one special dog in particular, a beloved Yellow Labrador named Katie who passed in 1999. He had taught her all sorts of tricks in the 12 years that she was top dog. There was a shrine to Katie after she passed, picture collages, photo albums and lots of mini–Yellow Labrador statues. She was one lucky and well-loved dog. Bill's number one priority though was his family. He attended as many family events that he could until his health no longer allowed him to. Many celebrations were brought to his home so he could spend time with his family and participate in the current celebration. As with everyone, Covid halted family togetherness for a bit, but Bill made the best of it with lots of FaceTime calls. Bill will forever stay in the hearts of many and will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
