William D. Boyd, age 83 passed away on Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the Atria Assisted Living Community in Stratford. Mr. Boyd, a WW # II Veteran of the U.S. Army was born in Greenwich to the late William D. and Frances Berrian Boyd and had been a life long Greenwich resident. He was a retired building inspector for the Town of Greenwich, and had worked for 25 years for Baldwin C. Hvass as a carpenter and for 10 years at Stuttig Locksmith. In his spare time, he built his own home in Perryridge Knolls. Mr. Boyd was an avid sailor and participated in racing out of the Old Greenwich Yacht Club. In the summer he raced in the Osprey class and in the winter with the Moth, which he built himself. He was a member of the Stamford Gem and Mineralogical Society since 1985; and also enjoyed photography, travel and good food. He is survived by 2 daughters Barbara McGinty of Stratford, Elizabeth Forrest of California and a son William T. Boyd of California, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church Chapel 254 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich on Saturday December 5, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private. The Adzima Funeral 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
