Wayne G. Smith, age 60, of Derby, passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2017 in his home. Wayne was born in Bridgeport on October 20, 1956 to the late Geraldine (Mangler) Smith. Wayne was married to Philomena (DelMonaco) Smith for 36 years. He found love for a second time and married Kristin Neverdousky Dunn on March 11, 2017- one of the happiest days of his life. Wayne was an inventor at heart.  He also had a deep appreciation for learning and was accepted into college just before his passing. Wayne regularly attended mass and had a great love of God.  Wayne was an incredibly persistent and tendentious man.  He loved telling old stories, and he had a contagious laugh.  Survivors in addition to his wife and ex-wife include his devoted children, Dino, Wayne and Chris Smith, Jacqueline Bacha and her husband Bryan Rees, and Daniel DelMonaco, 3 cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Brooke Bacha, and Amber Smith, his siblings, Deborah Balazsi, Linda Ismail, Thomas Smith (Liz), Gerald Smith (Pam), Brian Smith (Dawn), and Ronald Smith, a sister-in-law, Deborah Smith, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by a brother, Edward P. Smith II. A mass will be held in his honor on Wednesday, May 3 ^rd at 2:00 pm at Trinity Church on the Green, 230 Temple Street, New Haven, CT. Interment will be private.
