Walter A. Dobosz Sr, age 89, of Stratford passed away on July 3, 2009 at The Watermark at 3030 Park Ave. Bridgeport, Connecticut. Born in New Britain, Connecticut he was the son of the late Alexander and Tillie Dobosz. Walter was a graduate of Harding High School and the University of Bridgeport. He served his country proudly during World War II serving in the Army Air Corp, and was a retired accountant with the State of Connecticut. He was a devoted member of St. Johns American Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church where he served on many boards and committees including running several very successful bazaars. He was a lifelong New York Yankee fan and loved UCONN basketball. He loved his family and friends and especially enjoyed entertaining on the holidays. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Walter is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Helen Riha Dobosz, his devoted children Walter A. Dobosz Jr his son, Eloise Grabowski his daughter and her husband Ronald, three grandchildren whom he adored Laura Dobosz, Jennifer Swanson and her husband Jeff, and Robert Grabowski. He is also survived by his sisters Irene Osowski, Marion Kaputa and a brother Joseph Dobosz as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 12 noon in St. John the Baptist Carpatho Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church 364 Mill Hill Ave Bridgeport with a Requiem Funeral Service with the V. Rev. David Cochran officiating. Internment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 pm Panachida will be at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in Walter's memory be made to the St. John's Restoration Fund.
