Obituary

Waldemar A. Brockert, age 85 of Stratford passed away on Monday October 24, 2005 in the Connecticut Hospice Branford. Mr. Brockert was born on April 8, 1920 in Odessa, Ukraine to the late Alexander G. and Olga (Voigt) Brockert and came to the United States in 1951 as a WW II refugee. He was a Stratford resident for over 40 years and was employed by Avco-Lycoming for 27 years as a Senior Tool Designer in the Research and Development Department. At Avco he was a member of the National Management Club and the Tool and Manufacturing Engineers Assoc. He studied engineering at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute and at Erie County Technical College. Mr. Brockert was also a long time member of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church and served as President of the Church council from 1983-2001. Survivors include his beloved wife of 59 years Melitta, his devoted children Irene Brockert of Berlin, Germany, Alexander Brockert and his wife Lori Jean and Vera Tisdall and her husband Kevin of Milford. Also 3 grandchildren, Thomas Brockert of West Haven, Jaime Maconochie, and Jessica Pisacane and her husband Don and their children, Ryan, Joshua and Ava of Milford, and a brother Paul Brockert and his wife Olga of Moldova. Requiem Funeral services will take place on Saturday October 29th at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, One Honeyspot Road Stratford. Internment will be in Union Cemetery Stratford. Panachida on Friday at 7 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to St. Nicholas Church or to Connecticut Hospice 100 Double Beach Branford, CT. 06405.
