Hetes, Vincent John (102), beloved husband of Ann M Hetes for 71 years. Born in Stratford CT in 1923, as the son of the late Steve Hetes and Margaret Mayernick Hetes, he was a resident of Stratford and later Trumbull. Survivors include his sons, Michael and Robert (wife Sharon), grandsons, Chip and Christian Gasper and Austen and Calvin Hetes and two great grandchildren. Vincent was predeceased by his wife Ann, daughter Nancy Gasper, brother Stephen Hetes and sister Mary Doran. Survivors also include his sister Ann Freibott, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vincent served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed in England. He was later employed as a Manufacturing Engineer with both Avco Lycoming and Sikorsky Aircraft.
He enjoyed taking part in many sports. He played with the Raybsestos Cardinals softball team as well as both bowling and horseshoe leagues. “Vinnie” to his friends, he was an avid golfer who had a hole-in-one at the age of 84 at Tashua Knolls Golf Course. His hobbies included gardening, his wood workshop and following the successes of the Uconn Women’s basketball team.
He was a menber of the Sikorsky Retirees Friendship Club, Textron-Lycoming Retirees Club, Tashua Mens Club and Stratford V.F.W.
Both Vincent and Ann loved to travel, visiting Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Mexico, Bermuda, Alaska, Hawaii, the Panama Canal and Canada. After retiring they enjoyed 12 years of winter months in Florida.
Friends and family may visit on Monday, March 9th from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday March 10, 2026, at 10 a.m. meeting directly at St. Theresa Church 5301 Main Street Trumbull.
