Vera Lundberg, age 91, of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed away peacefully in her home on July 20, 2022.
Vera was born in Goronda, Poland in 1930 and emigrated to the United States after World War II with her beloved parents, the late Very Reverend Ippolit Kallaur and Matushka Marie Kallaur and her three siblings - Alla, Constantine and Walter.Vera lived in Waterbury, CT and was very active in her father's parish located in Stamford.Vera enjoyed her professional career as an executive assistant and translator to renowned industrialist and inventor T. Sendzimir.
Vera married her husband, Dr. Gustav Lundberg, in 1966 with her beloved father presiding over the marriage sacrament.Vera and Gustav's only child, Maria (Mashenka) Lundberg, was born the following year.Gustav and Vera moved to New York and lived there for over 45 years.Dr. Lundberg had a successful pediatric practice in Staten Island and Vera was a devoted wife and mother, caring deeply about the well-being of all of her extended family.Vera had a life-long devotion to the Russian Orthodox Church which was the central pillar of her spiritual life.
Vera had a strong interest in fashion design and studied design at the National School of Dress Design, earning a diploma by taking courses in costume designing, fashion sketching, pattern drafting, cutting and fitting.Vera loved to sew, spending many hours at her treasured sewing machine.Vera also enjoyed reading fashion magazines to keep up with the latest fashion trends.
Vera is survived by her husband, Gustav, her daughter, Mashenka, and her son-in-law, Patrick Green, all of Denver, Colorado.In addition, Vera is survived by her siblings, Alla (Kallaur) Lewykin and Alla's husband, Ivan Lewykin of Southport, Connecticut, Dr. Constantine Kallaur and Constantine's wife, Arlene Kallaur of Charlotte, North Carolina and Walter Kallaur of Fort Myers, Florida.Vera is also survived by two granddaughters, Brook Fonzone married to Stephen Fonzone of Denver, Colorado and Kinsey Hannify, married to Lieutenant Commander James Hannify of Lemoore, California, and six great-grandchildren. Vera is also survived by three nephews and their spouses - Gregory Kallaur, and his wife Dr. Kelly Kallaur, of Timonium, Maryland, Fr. Michael Kallaur, and his wife Presbytera Eleni, of the Holy Cross Orthodox Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Daniel Kallaur and his wife Ly Kallaur of Charlotte, North Carolina and nine grandnephews and grandnieces. Vera is predeceased by her parents and Carolita Kallaur, beloved wife of Walter Kallaur.
There will be a Panachida service on Monday, July 25th at 7:00 pm at the Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church, 5 Wheeler Terrace, Stratford, CT 06614.On Tuesday, July 26th, liturgy will commence at 8:00 am followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am at the Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church. Internment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford, CT. Services will be conducted by Archpriest Constantine Semyanko of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple Russian Orthodox Church and Fr. Michael Kallaur of the Holy Cross Orthodox Church.
