Vera Yakunin Hentschke, age 90 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of Fred Hentschke passed into heaven on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Hentschke was a retired sales lady from J.C. Penney and before that Macy's where she had worked part-time for many years. She loved helping people shop and find "just the right item." She was born in Kiev, Russia to the late Matrona and Vasiliev Yakunin. Mrs. Hentschke had a gift for languages and could speak five different languages. She always enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Elena Lavigne and her husband, Real and her beloved daughter, Marian Bengoa, 5 grandchildren Michael Lavigne, Daniel Lavigne, Christina Lavigne, Sherry Wuertz, Crystal Bengoa, and 3 great grandchildren Blake Campbelle, Autumn Voorhees and Sebastian Voorhees. Funeral services will take place on Friday, February 7th at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple, 5 Wheeler Terrace, Stratford, CT. Interment will be take place at St. John's Cemetery in Monroe. Dearest Mama and Babushka, we will always remember you for your remarkable strength, courage, kindness, generosity and your big heart.
