Vance J. McCormick, age 86 of Stratford, died Sunday, December 14, 2008 in the Ludlowe Health Care Center in Fairfield. Born in New Haven to the late Lester and Winifred (McPartland) McCormick he has been a life long area resident living in Stratford for the past 30 years and was a retired janitor for Raybestos Manufacturing in Stratford. Survivors include his beloved wife Beverly Hains McCormick; 4 brothers: Robert McCormick of Chandler, AZ, Gerald McCormick of Wallingford, Paul McCormick of East Haven and Ronald McCormick of Lake Worth, FL; 3 sisters: Joyce Morris of Cumberland, RI, Janet McCormick of West Have and Mary Lou McGovern of Branford; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. 2 brothers John and Lester McCormick Jr. and 2 sisters Muriel Remillard and Gertrude McCormick predeceased Vance. Funeral services will take place on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11:15 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 12 noon in St. Patrick's RC Church in Bridgeport with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Stratford. Friends may call on Friday from 9 – 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Vance's memory to the Soldiers Fund through the funeral director or Beverly.
