Valerie A. Shukait, age 96, of Stratford, the widow of Stephen Shukait, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2012 in the Summit at Plantsville Nursing Home in Plantsville, CT. Born in Glen Lyon, PA to the late John and Stephia (Tarnowski) Kishel, Valerie has been a lifelong Stratford resident. She was a part of the "Bingo Buddies" at the Stonybrook Gardens. Survivors include her beloved daughter Dorothy Black of Beacon Falls; 4 grandchildren, Robert R. Black Jr of Beacon Falls, Stephen Black and his wife Loni of Shelton, Roxanne Cone of Glastonbury and Shelley Holley and her husband Mark of Southington; 9 great-grandchildren, Robert, Justin and Melissa Black, Meagan, Brittany and Roy Cone, Alexandra and Shane Holley; a brother Leonard Kishel and his wife Marie of Nanticoke, PA; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and doctors of Summit at Plantsville Nursing Home for the care they provided to Valerie. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 5th at 9:30 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10:00am in Our Lady of Grace Church, 200 Second Hill Lane, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Tuesday from 8:30-9:30am. In lieu of flowers the family request those desiring, to make donations in Valerie's memory to Fr.
