Umberto Iaboni, age 83 of Stratford, the beloved husband of Italia Lia Iaboni passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2011 in St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Umberto, a retired self employed mason was born on June 17, 1920 in Terracina, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Filomena (Fiorini) Iaboni, Umberto, Italia and their two children moved to the United States in 1968 and have resided in Stratford since. Survivors include his beloved wife Italia; his 2 children Joseph Iaboni and Tiziana Iaboni; 2 granddaughters Maria Lia Iaboni and Emanuela DiIorio all of Stratford; 3 brothers Gino, Franco and Elia Iaboni; 2 sisters Maria and Assunata Iaboni all of Terracina, Italy; 5 brothers-in-law, Adelmo Lia and Perry Lia both of Stratford, Carlo Lia of Deby, Ginesio Lia of Italy and Adrian DiMario of NY; 4 sisters-in-law Emma Lia, Marissa Lia, Eleanor Cappola of Cheshire and Erminia Lia of Stratford; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 9 AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 AM in St. Ambrose Church 1596 Boston Ave Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.
