Timothy P. Quill IV. age 58, of Woodbridge, beloved husband of Brenda Sirois Quill and father of Timothy Quill V and Liliana Quill, passed away suddenly on February 10, 2026. Tim was born in Bridgeport on July 24, 1967. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, CT, and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Alfred University, where he was a four-time All-American on their swimming and diving team.
Tim devoted his life to a remarkable career dedicated to mentorship, leadership, and service as the longtime Head Swim Coach for both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at Southern Connecticut State University, where he coached for nearly three decades. Throughout his tenure, he impacted the lives of thousands of student-athletes, helping them grow not only in the pool but also as confident, disciplined, and compassionate individuals.
Under his leadership, he built one of the most successful programs in school history and established a dominant presence within the Northeast-10 Conference, consistently elevating the standard of excellence for the team. Tim led the men’s and women’s swimming and diving program to 41 conference championships and was named Coach of the Year 35 times over the span of 28 years. In addition, he helped guide hundreds of student-athletes to All-American careers and many individual conference championships.
In addition to his role at the collegiate level, Tim served as the owner of the SoNoCo/SOCO Swim Club, where he guided athletes to the U.S. Olympic Trials and the Pan American Games. He later served as director of the Bulldogs Club Swim Team, which practiced out of SCSU. He also coached the Cheshire YMCA (1990-99) to a third-place finish at the YMCA National Championships. Tim coached three YMCA national champions and over 100 YMCA All-Americans. His passion for the sport, unwavering dedication to his athletes, and larger-than-life presence built a legacy that will endure far beyond the record books.
In addition to his coaching career, Tim was the owner and operator of The Pool & Spa Doctor of Wolcott, a family business he proudly built and nurtured for over 30 years. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and the lasting relationships he formed with clients and colleagues alike.
Outside of his professional life, Tim had a deep love for the boating community. He built a wide and cherished circle of friends over the years at the marinas in Old Saybrook and Stamford, where countless memories were made. Whether on the water, on the pool deck, or surrounded by family and friends, Tim’s laughter, storytelling, and generous spirit filled every space he entered.
He was predeceased by his parents, Timothy Quill III and Patricia (Lynch) Quill. In addition to his beloved wife of 25 years, survivors include his cherished children, Timothy Quill V and Liliana Quill; his brother, Kevin Quill; his uncle, Dennis Quill; nieces; nephews; cousins; and an energetic dog named Cash.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, from 3-8 p.m. at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. All other services will be private. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be announced soon.
The Quill family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support from family, friends, alumni, and the entire SCSU community. In lieu of flowers, the family strongly requests donations in memory of Tim to the: Southern Connecticut Men’s and Women’s Swimming Foundation to fund the creation of the Timothy P.
