Thomas H. Peterson, age 82, of Stratford, the beloved husband of MaryAnn Dakun Peterson, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 in his home. Born in Bridgeport on October 2, 1938, to the late Harold and Margaret (Kuba) Peterson, he has lived in Stratford for the last 44 years. Tom graduated Bullard Havens Technical School, where he learned painting. He was a veteran of the Army Chemical Corp in Anniston, Alabama and attended night classes at the University of Alabama. He was the owner of Colonial Art Studio Painting and Decorating from 1976 until his retirement in 2016. Tom took pride in his work and treated every home as his own. He loved sharing stories with family and friends of the many famous people he met throughout his career. Tom frequently vacationed in Williamsburg, VA and loved sharing a pizza at Pepe's in New Haven with his wife. He was a member of the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist Bridgeport, where he served as an altar boy and was a church officer. In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, Tom is survived by a son, Christopher Peterson and his wife Katherine of RI, a niece, Dawn Parmalee of Shelton and a nephew James Peterson of MA along with several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard.
Friends may greet his family on Monday, September 13 th , from 4 to 7 p.m. at The Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A Panachida Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday morning at 9:15 a.m. at Adzima's. A Requiem Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, 364 Mill Hill Ave, Bridgeport. Interment, with Full Military Honors, will be held at St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
Everyone in attendance must follow the current COVID-19 guidelines and wear a mask.
