Obituary

Thomas Louis Hoffman, age 50, of Stratford, a patrolman with the Stratford Police Department, died suddenly on Tuesday, September 26, 2006. Tom (aka "Koos") was born in Bridgeport to the late Louis S. and Josephine B. Siok Hoffman and has been a lifelong Stratford resident. He graduated from the Stratford Public School System and attended the University of New Haven and then the Police Academy in Meriden where he graduated at the top of his class. He was a patrolman for the Town of Stratford for 25 years and when off duty enjoyed cooking at Johnny's Restaurant where he was a chef and kitchen manager. Tom was the treasurer for the Stratford PAL and was the head of the Department of Evidence and Property for the Police Department. He was also a specialist in accident re-construction. He was a member of the Stratford Police Department Honor Guard and on the Executive Board for the Stratford Police Benevolent Association. He also was a member of the Stratford Electronic Dart League and the Stratford Recreational Department Co-Ed Softball League. Tom loved to Spend Time with his nephew, who is his namesake. He would take him to Yankee and Mets games and they would just spend a lot of time with each other. He was the devoted brother of Virginia Ready and her husband Dan and beloved uncle of Thomas James Ready all of Stratford. Additional survivors include an aunt Margaret Siok; 3 uncles Charles Hoffman and his wife Martha, Anthony Fonck and Alfred Pagliuco and several cousins. Funeral Services with Full Police Honors will take place on Friday, September 29, 2006 at 8:00 am in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Michael's the Archangel RC Church, Pulaski Street, Bridgeport, at 9:00 am. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. . Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Stratford PAL 900 Longbrook Ave. Stratford, CT 06614.
