Thomas E. Hetherington, age 83, of Shelton, the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth Waldron Hetherington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024 in St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Born Bridgeport on February 16, 1941 to the late Francis and Bernice (Mahoney) Hetherington, he has resided in Bridgeport, Milford, Hamden, Stratford and Shelton.  Tom was a retired LPN for the VNA of South-Central CT and a veteran of The US Army during the Vietnam War.  Throughout his life, Tom displayed a love of music and art -- which he passed on to his children.  He was also an avid reader.  He was a member of the Ringmasters (forerunner of the Coastal Mix, the Bridgeport Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society).  Friends and family fondly remember Tom spending peaceful hours with coloring book pages -- bringing vibrant life to intricate designs, a pastime that reflected his appreciation for beauty in everyday moments.

Survivors include his devoted children, Christopher Hetherington and his wife Tricia of Stratford and Maribeth Johnson of Bridgeport, 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his 2 sisters, Phyllis Simon and her husband Bob Hamilton of Bridgeport and Patricia Vitale and her husband Eric of North Carolina, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 9:00 a.m meeting directly at St. Patrick's Church, 851 North Ave. Bridgeport.  Entombment with full military honors will be in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. Friends may greet his family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Stratford VNA.
