Tessie Olenski Kabara, 95, of Stratford, the beloved widow of Paul J. Kabara, died peacefully on April 3, at West River Health Care Center in Milford. Born in Worcester, MA to the late Frank and Bronisjawa (Kamienska) Olenski, she has been a lifelong area resident. She was a graduate of Drake Business School in New York, and was employed by Chance Vought and Dictaphone in Bridgeport. She was an active volunteer for the Kennedy Center, and The Ella Grasso Center.
Survivors include her beloved children, Carol Steinfeld of Branford, James Kabara of Stratford, and Richard Kabara and his wife Janice of Stratford; grandchildren Michele, Naomi and Daniel Steinfeld, Matthew and Kevin Kabara; a sister Jane Czapla of Fairfield, and many nieces and nephews. Tessie was predeceased by three brothers: Walter, Frank and Stanley Olenski, and sister Helen Masloski. She loved flowers, and meticulously maintained a beautifully landscaped garden. She cared deeply about her family, lifelong friendships, country, and was always a lady in both dress, and manner. Tessie was a devoted Catholic, with an unwavering faith, from which she grew great strength, and truly lived under the protective grace of God. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Atria of Stratford, and West River Health Care Center, for all their support, and loving care. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:30AM in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford and 11:30AM in St. Michael the Archangel Church in Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial.
