IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan
Tyliszczak
October 8, 1922 – May 31, 2015
Susan Kopac Tyliszczak, aged 92 years, beloved widow of Stanislaw, mother of Stanley, Stephen, William and John; Grandmother to Steven, Meghan, Jennifer, Peter, Kevin and Helen; Great Grandmother to Nicky; much loved sister to Steven Kopac and dearly held aunt, friend and helper to many others passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2015. Her family wants her to know that she did a great job and we wish her a safe journey home. Born in Bridgeport in 1922 she moved to Poland as a child and came of age there. Seized by forces beyond her control she spent the second world war as a forced laborer in Germany. With the dogged assistance of family she was able to return to the Bridgeport area after the war and it was here she married, raised her family and made her life. Susan retired from the Buildings and Grounds department at the University of Bridgeport where she worked for many years and had many wonderful friends. Her labors there were driven by her desire to ensure the education of her children, always thinking of others, especially her children. Working at UB Susan exemplified her belief in the value of hard work, a respect for all people and in never letting plastic garbage bags or good string go to waste. Pre-deceased by her beloved parents Akim Kopac and Anna Hricenak; her sisters, Anna Kopac, Helen Kopac, Vickie Polaski and her brother George Kopac, as well as being heartbroken by the loss of her adored husband she demonstrated her strength and resilience through her continued loving care for her family even in the face of unbearable hardship. As the years progressed her journey took her to the role of grandmother, one which she joyfully embraced. As "grandma" she was a shining, loving example to not only her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, but to all those she came in contact with. Family meant everything to Susan. Her presence made a difference in the lives of so very many people. Her leaving us saddens us, but we are so very glad she was with us for as long as she was. But now, her journey is done. God gives us the gift of life with the knowledge that one day we must return it, but with this journey's end comes a prize. A reunion with all those beloved family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 5th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Trumbull for a Divine Liturgy with Office of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet her family on Thursday from 4-7p.m. Panachida at 4:30. In lieu of flowers we ask you to support the causes we support, The Burroughs Community Center, 2470 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06605, CLASP Homes, 246 Post Rd E., Westport CT, and the Barnum Museum Foundation, 820 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT 06604.
