Susan Tkacs Sarnik, a lifelong resident of Bridgeport and wife of the late Stephen L. Sarnik, died Sunday May 17, 2009 after a brief illness. Born in 1916 Sue was the youngest daughter of Nicolas and Mary Tkacs. Sue worked for many years at the Remington Arms Manufacturing Company until her retirement. She was a member of the Remington Retirement Club and a member of the Baldwin Center Seniors. During her retirement she enjoyed traveling to many foreign countries along with her yearly summer trips to Ocean City, Maryland. Sue loved the beach, reading novels and she never missed watching and or attending UCONN Basketball games. She had the opportunity to meet several UCONN players through the years, which always delighted her. She is survived by her daughter Debi Morin and son-in-law, who was more of a son to her, Jim Morin of Milford; granddaughters whom she called her little angels, Jessica Patrice Morin and her fiancé Perry Clark and Bre Anna Irene Morin all of Norfolk, VA; her sister Mary Windsor of North Carolina, a sister-in-law Evelyn Tkacs of Stratford and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was pre-deceased by her brother Leslie Tkacs. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. William Hulcher, the staff of Bridgeport Hospital and Lord Chamberlain Convalescent Home and VITAS Hospice Care for their concern and compassion while caring for our Sue. A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday May 21st at 9 a.m. in the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist 364 Mill Hill Ave Bridgeport. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. At the families request calling hours have been omitted. The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
