Susan (Cartiglia) Milositz, age 52, of Cheshire, beloved wife of Joseph J. Milositz, Jr., and loving and devoted mother of Joseph J. Milositz III, and Sandra Susan Milositz, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Yale-New Haven Hospital following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 4, 1954, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of Geraldine Cartiglia Gemza of Stratford and the late Robert Cartiglia, Sr., Susan attended St. James School and Bunnell High School, where she earned recognition as a scholar-athlete and earned a full-tuition scholarship to Fairfield University, where she earned her Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1976. She then graduated from the Bridgeport Hospital School of Medical Technology and earned her first Master's Degree in Science from the University of Bridgeport. She worked in the laboratories and pharmacies at both St. Vincent's Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital, eventually serving as the Administrative Director of Pharmacy and Laboratory Services at Bridgeport Hospital. She was currently employed as the Director of Laboratory Services at Windham Hospital, and had recently completed a second Master's Degree in Health Care Administration at Quinnipiac University. Susan was a member and the most-recent past president of the Connecticut Hospital Laboratory Network (CHLN), a member of the State of Connecticut Emergency Response Network, and held the certification level of Six Sigma Green Belt in laboratory sciences. She was also a volunteer laboratory respondent in the event of a national emergency. A lifelong athlete, Susan enjoyed golf with family and friends, as well as softball, playing through last summer in the Cheshire Women's Softball League. She was an avid New York Yankees fan who loved to spend time in her garden, cook wonderful Italian food, and spend vacation time with her entire family sitting along the shore of Falmouth Heights, Cape Cod. Described by those who loved her as "an angel on earth," Susan was beloved for her sincerity and generosity as well as the simple kindness with which she treated everyone. She will be profoundly missed. In addition to her husband, children, and mother, Susan is survived by two brothers, John Cartiglia and his wife, Tammy, of Trinity, FL, and Robert Cartiglia and his wife, Dana, of Oxford; one sister, Nancy Dowling and her husband, Richard, of Stratford; her mother-in-law Gloria Milositz of Cheshire; her brother-in-law Paul Milositz and his wife, Roxanne, of Bethel; two sisters-in-law, Linda Izzo and her husband, Paul, of Shelton, and Karen Mercurio and her husband, Daniel, of South Meriden; several aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., DIRECTLY at St. James Church, 2001 Main Street, Stratford with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.
