Steven Barrie Hackett, age 66 of Shelton, beloved husband of Nancy Peterson, passed away on July 20, 2025, in his home surrounded by loving family and special friends, Rich and Laura Tallberg. Steven was born in Warwick, RI on June 12, 1959, to Russell Hackett and the late Barbara Joy Hackett and was a longtime area resident. He was a graduate of Bullard Havens Technical High School, class of 1977, obtained his full Airfame and Power Plant license from the FAA specializing in Avionics, and earned his associate's degree in electrical engineering from Fairfield University. Steven's lifelong passion included all things related to music, cars, boats and airplanes. He was a long-time member of the Housatonic Boat Club in Stratford, CT and the Windjammers Sailing club in Milford, CT. Steven worked for many years, including during his illness, for Tradewind Aviation in Oxford, CT.

Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife, include his father, Russell Hackett, stepdaughter Heather (Stephen) Petrahai, grandchildren Claire Sandra and Collin Kenneth Petrahai, brother David (Fernanda) Hackett, niece Shelby and nephew Benjamin Hackett.

The family would like to thank the many family, friends, coworkers and health care providers from Smilow Cancer Hospital and Bridgeport Hospital who provided wonderful care, encouragement and support.

Visitation on Monday July 28, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. All other services will be private.
