Stephen Joseph Postic, age 84 of Bridgeport passed away on Tuesday November 13, 2007 in his home. Mr. Postic, a WW # II Veteran of the U.S. Army was born December 26, 1922 in Minersville, PA to the late Joseph and Mary Postic and has been a long time area resident. He was a retired inspector for Sprague Meter Company and was a member of VFW Post # 145, Veteran's Council of Bridgeport, Polish Veteran's #24, past president of the Sts. Peter and Paul Society. After his retirement he used his creative talent on numerous projects. Most recently he worked on the realization of the World War # II Memorial in Bridgeport, of which he was part of the ground breaking ceremony. In 1997 he was presented the Stanley G. Powell Memorial Award by the Veteran's Council of Greater Bridgeport.He worked tirelessly before each Memorial Day placing flags on the graves of fallen veterans at Lakeview Cemetery. Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years Dorothy Zastenchik Postic, daughters and sons-in-law Daria (Ploski) and James Slavin, and Carol and William Kirkman, grandson Sean Kirkman and his wife Christine, granddaughter Lindsay Kirkman, sisters Katherine Smitreski, Helen McKendry, and Caroline Sharon and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by sisters Ann Vudrick and Mary Billas and a brother Joseph Postick. Funeral services will take place on Friday November 16th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment with full military honors will be in Lakeview Cemetery Bridgeport. Friends may call on Thursday from 3-7 p.m. Panachida service at 5:30 p.m. The Veterans of Post #145 will perform a ritual at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Holy Ghost Church.
