Obituary

Stefan A. Stepien, 92, of Shelton, Connecticut, passed away on March 12, 2024. Stefan was the beloved husband of Teresa Walczyk Stepien, who he was married to for 68 years. He was born in Poland on January 3, 1932, to the late Adam and Katarzyna Stepien, but had been a longtime resident of the United States. Stefan worked as an industrial engineer for the Polish government before he moved to the U.S. and spent the remainder of his career working for Producto Machine Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Stefan is survived by his wife, his daughter, Margaret Johnson, and her husband, Kenneth Johnson, as well as his granddaughter, Liz Ozaist, and her husband, Todd Bradway. In addition to his parents, Stefan was predeceased by his infant daughter, Kristina Stepien.

Stefan was a man of deep faith who had a strong moral compass and commendable ethics. He also had an incredible connection to animals—everything from song birds to squirrels and his pet cats flocked to him—further illustrating his good heart. When he was younger, he dabbled in being a jazz singer back in Poland, and in his later years, relished the hours he could wile away on a lake, fishing for bass in the Adirondacks. He will be deeply missed and would no doubt ask that we take a sip of cognac in his honor.

The visitation will take place on Friday, March 22, 1:30-2:30 P.M., at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. A prayer service will be held at 2:30 P.M. All other services will be private and reserved for close family.
