Stanley Frank Gorlo Jr., age 86, of Shelton, beloved husband of the late Joan Ann Anderson Gorlo, passed away on January 27, 2022, in Griffin Hospital.
Stanley was born in Bridgeport on June 14, 1935, to the late Stanley Gorlo Sr. and Mary (Oleyar) Gorlo Cannuzzio and had been a lifelong resident of Stratford CT, and relocated to Shelton CT. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Stanley was a retired Forman from Sikorsky Aircraft and later a retired Inspector for Kaiser Engineering Company. He was a Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop # 179 at Holy Name of Jesus Church and a member of Port 5 Naval Club. Stanley was a long-time docent at the Sikorsky Helicopter Museum in Stratford Ct. He took great enjoyment in playing the accordion in a band, while entertaining his family and friends. He was an avid UConn Huskies, New York Jets and Notre Dame Football sports fan and enjoyed gardening, traveling, camping, and relaxing at his summer trailer on Prospect Lake.
Survivors include his loving companion, Ruth Fririhio of Shelton, his devoted children, Ronald Gorlo of Bethany, Jo-Ann Gorlo-Bazata and her husband Jerry of Ogunquit Maine, and Brian Gorlo and his wife Jo-Ann of Stratford, his cherished grandchildren, Alison Gorlo, Katherine Ann Gorlo, Gracie Lynne Gorlo, and Isabella Maria Bazata, a great-grandson, Tristan Lee Gorlo, brother, Donald Gorlo of Stratford, sister, Sandra Malashchuk and her husband Michael of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years Joan Ann Anderson Gorlo, infant son William Joseph (Baby Billy); sister Rosemarie Bodnar; brother John (Little John) Gorlo and stepfather John (Gans) Cannuzzio.
Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, February 1st from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Masks are required, as visitors walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 2 nd at 10:00 a.m. meeting directly at St. Mark Church 500 Wigwam Lane Stratford. Interment with full military honors will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Masks are required for all services.
