Sandi Kochiss, a beloved art educator and devoted Stratford resident, passed away at the age of 78 on June 2, 2025. Born in Bridgeport to John and Ethel Kochiss, Sandi spent her life inspiring young minds and nurturing their creativity. As an elementary school art teacher in Stratford and later in Stamford, she left an indelible mark on her students, particularly during her tenure at Cloonan Middle School and the Academy of Information Technology and Engineering.

After pursuing her master's in fine arts from Pratt Institute, Sandi continued to share her passion for art with generations of students. Her dedication and impact will be remembered for years to come.
Beyond her teaching career, Sandi enjoyed an active lifestyle, excelling on the tennis court and golf course. She is survived by her sister, Deborah Kochiss Frankel, and her brother-in-law, Robert Frankel, as well as numerous cousins in Connecticut and Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests in  memory of Sandi and her love of the arts, donations may be made as follows: Checks made payable to Arts Alliance of Stratford, and forwarded to Sterling Community Center, 2283 Main Street, Stratford, CT. 06615.

Burial and services will be held privately, honoring her legacy of creativity, dedication, and love. ‎
