Samuel Slota, age 79, of Ansonia, beloved husband of Joanna Kuncik Slota, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in Griffin Hospital, Derby. Mr. Slota, a retired Crane Operator for American Brass Company, was born in Poland to the late Damian and Eudokia (Adamiak) Slota, and immigrated to Ansonia in 1981. Samuel had worked as a baker in Poland. He was an active member of the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist in Bridgeport. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, include his devoted children James Slota and his wife Dorota of Beacon Falls, Helen Symochko of Monroe, Irene Kelley and her husband James of Woodbury, Mira Belekewicz and her husband Greg of South Windsor, Donna Slota of NY, Lidia Tchir and her husband Andrzej of Ansonia, and Kristina Antoniszyn and her husband Adam of NJ, 11 cherished grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 2 brothers, Bogdan Slota and his wife Halina, Aleksander Slota and his wife Maria, 2 sisters, Melania Bodak, and Maria Fuczko, all of Poland, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents he was pre-decesed by his son-in-law Peter Symochko, 2 brothers, Wladyslaw and Dymitr, and a sister Miroslawa. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 18 th at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 10 a.m. in the Carpatho Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, Bridgeport for a Requiem Funeral Service. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8 p.m. Panachida at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations in Samuel's memory to St. John's Church.
