Ruth Evelyn Semancik, the widow of George Semancik passed away comfortably in her home at age 94 with her family by her side.
Ruth was a lifelong resident of Stratford and longtime member of The Stratford United Methodist Church. Ruth loved bingo, casino trips, and traveling with her husband, family and friends. She also loved hosting holidays, parties, and picnics, and especially baking nut rolls and cookies for holidays. Ruth was also active in many church activities including running the bake table for events and many woman's groups.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Gail Yates (Thomas), Ruth L. Bentley (George) and Lisa Semancik and Michele Sampiere who she loved as a daughter. She is also survived by brother, William Kovac (Josephine). Grandchildren, Sandra Rylander (David), Daniel Brooks, George C. Bentley (Kristen) and Evan Bentley (Christina DeAngelo) and seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including godson, Jack Wallace (Kelly) and several cousins. In addition to her husband Ruth was predeceased by her parents, William and Ella (Prall) Kovac. Siblings, Mary Kovac, Linda Wallace, John Kovac and Henry Kovac.
Special thanks to Pastor Suhee Kim and our extended church family and all the nurses and aides from The Hospice Team of Hartford Healthcare for all the support they gave us during Ruth's long journey to comfort.
Visitation on Tuesday, May 30th from 10- a.m.- 12 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, followed by a funeral service in Stratford United Methodist Church 2600 Main Street Stratford at 12:30 p.m. with Rev Suhee Kim officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
