Ruth C. Hastings, age 86, of Bridgeport, a retired licensed practical nurse with the State of Connecticut and retired from the Dinan Center Nursing Home, passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2024, in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Feeding Hills, MA on February 5, 1938, to the late Phillip and Vivian Hastings she has been a longtime Bridgeport resident. She was the 15th child in a family of 17 and is survived by 2 brothers, Robert and Arthur Hastings and a sister Vivian Hill. Ruth was known for her famous banana bread and her passion for gardening. She was also an award-winning artisan with blue ribbons for her rug hooking, beautiful, crocheted pieces and her quilting. Ruth was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her brothers and sister she is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Ruth was a fill in mother for Karen, John, Linda, Angela, Frank, Grace, Vivian, Terry, Bob, Janet and Bill. She was also a fill in grandmother of Erica, Max, Cierra, Arienna, Kevin and Brian. Ruth also leaves behind special neighbors, Jessica, Ca, Gia, Nan, and Vy.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, February 16th from 4-6 pm in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February, 17th at 10am directly in St James Church, 20270 Main Street, Stratford, Internment will be later in the spring in Feeding Hills, MA.
