Rudolph Filicko, age 91, of Stratford, the beloved widower of Mary Pasturnak Filicko passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018 in his home. Rudy, a retired Mechanic for McDermott Chevrolet was born in Stratford to the late Andrew and Anna Filicko, and has been a lifelong Stratford Resident. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving during WWII in the Battles of the Ardennes, and the Rhineland, and was a proud recipient of a Bronze Star Medal. Rudy enjoyed boating, fishing and gardening; and was a New York Yankee fan. He loved music, and while serving in the military he played the Accordion and Saxophone in the USO Clubs throughout Germany. Rudy was a past member of the Rivercliff Yacht Club in Milford, and had many friends at the East End Yacht Club in Bridgeport, where he loved to spend time with everyone there. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family, especially his granddaughter. Survivors include his devoted son, Richard Filicko and his wife Susan of Shelton, his daughter-in-law, Eileen Filicko of Milford and his cherished granddaughter, Cynthia Pane and her husband Ryan of Shelton. In addition to his wife and parents, Rudy was predeceased by his son, Robert Filicko and his brother, Leonard Filicko. A special thank you to his long time caregiver, Joanne Matta Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at 10:30AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford. Interment with Full Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Trumbull. Friends may call on Monday from 4-7 pm.
