IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ronald R.
Oddo
February 29, 1944 – May 5, 2021
Ronald R. Oddo 2/29/44 – 5/5/21
Ronald R. Oddo, of Shelton, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2021.
Ron will forever be cherished and remembered as the most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, godfather, cousin, mentor, champion, advocate, hero and friend.
Known for his charm, his smile, his quick wit and his love of God, country, family, sports (especially football - go Giants!) and of food (his favorite flavor was 'more').
Growing up he was a gifted, tough, natural athlete and part of championship baseball teams and all-star football teams until he volunteered his service to the Air Force to fight for his country in Vietnam. He lived as a proud decorated veteran (though no one knew he was decorated until now).
He was fearless and resilient, yet never a self-promoter. Warm and welcoming to all (great hugger!) and always a confidence booster.
Through his quick wit and deep wisdom, he could lighten up any situation to put people at ease and a natural at bringing out the best in people (except maybe when it came to telemarketers). Which will always be remembered by the kids he coached in youth football and baseball, as well as, in his later years in dedication to youth ministry for high school teenagers.
Scrappy, clever and hard-working, the majority of his career was spent in the jewelry industry in various ways. Store manager, store owner/entrepreneur, gemologist, diamond grader, president of the retailer's association in St. Thomas and gold broker helping to bridge Greece trade in the US (which he would brush off as a timing coincidence if you ever asked him).
His presence and impact on others will be forever missed and also forever remembered.
The last quote he leaves us all with is "I told you I was sick" forever etched on his resting place at the Gates of Heaven.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12:00pm on Saturday, June 19th at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave, Shelton, CT.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (which is committed to funding breakthroughs in conquering age-related dementias), and/or Regional Hospice (a place of comfort and dignity for those at the end stage of life).
The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
