Ronald S. Basala, age 73, of Monroe, a retired driver for UniFirst Corporation, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Ron was born in Bridgeport to the late Andrew and Anna (Kerilla) Basala and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the US Navy and has been active with the Military Honors division. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Elaine Raschke Basala, 2 devoted daughters Lynn Kusinski and her husband Edward of Monroe and Kristen Cavaliere and her husband Vincent of Stratford, 4 cherished grandchildren, Julianna, Lauren and Emily Kusinski and Anthony Cavaliere, 2 brother-in-laws, Edward Raschke and his wife Diane of Monroe and David Raschke and his wife Barbara of Milford and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ron was an avid sports fan and enthusiastically followed the Mets and the Giants. He spent his retirement years surrounded by his grandchildren as he attended their games and competitions, provided rides to their many activities or took them out for ice cream. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 am directly in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 466 Elm St., Monroe, with Pastor Doug Ryniewicz officiating. Interment with Full Honors will be in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Monday from 4-8pm in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
