Roland Gould Murray, 79 of Stratford, beloved husband of Mildred Murray passed on peacefully in the company of his family on Thursday afternoon, August 30, 2007. As a man of the sea he served in the Naval Forces during and after WWII. Later he spent 28 years working for Sikorsky Aircraft, leaving as Foreman of Manufacturing and Engineering. After his retirement you could usually find Roy in the garden enjoying his yard and tending to his tomato plants, working on tall ship and wharf models in the shed or at the diner with friends and family. As a wise man of the natural world he taught us to appreciate the outdoors. He enjoyed his boat, feeding the birds, relaxing amongst the pine trees and ocean in the Carolina's and fishing at the local spots around his home in Connecticut. With a fascination for Native American Culture, Roland Murray dreamed of the west with its endless landscape blending into a vast open sky and he always loved a good thunderstorm on the porch! In addition to his wife Mildred he is survived by his daughter, Mariann Hudak and her husband Craig of Shelton. His son Robert Murray and his wife Claudia of Stratford. His granddaughter Kelly Hudak of Newport Beach, CA. He was predeceased by his youngest granddaughter Lori Hudak of Stratford and his brother Leroy Murray of Milford. Final Vision
What is Life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night
It is the breath of the buffalo in the winter
It is the little shadow which runs across the grass
And loses itself in the sunset
