Robert W. Stirbis, age 72, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Alice Fitzpatrick Stirbis, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in St. Vincent's MC, Bridgeport. Robert was born in the Bronx, NY to the late Edward and Edna (McDonnell) Stirbis, and grew up in New York and lived his High School Years in Switzerland. He was a graduate of Iona College and received his Master's Degree in Education from Fairfield University. Robert taught at Valhalla High School (NY) for over thirty-four years, retiring in 2000. He was an avid fan of the Hartford Whalers and the Chicago Bears. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife, include his devoted children, Brian Stirbis and his wife Diana Ruemmele of Stratford and Suzanne Rafferty and her husband James of Seymour, 6 cherished grandchildren, Ayslinn, James Robert, Evelyn, Matthew, Nathan, and Dayanara, a brother James Stirbis and his wife Mary of Hartsdale, NY, a sister-in-law Eileen Stirbis of Patterson, NY, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by a brother, Donald. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, October 7th at 10 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, and at 11 a.m. in St. Theresa Church Trumbull for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Monroe. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
