Robert M. Skirkanich, age 82, of East Northport, New York, beloved husband of Kathleen Sullivan Skirkanich, passed away on March 29, 2024. Bob was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on September 4, 1941, to the late Michael and Anna (Simko) Skirkanich and had been a long-time resident of East Northport. He was a graduate of Stratford High School, class of 1959, and earned his BS in Physics and Psychology from the University of Connecticut and his MBA from Hofstra University.

Bob was a retired Aerospace Engineer for Sikorsky and Grumman Aerospace Corporation, where he worked on the Apollo Program including the Lunar Excursion Module ("the Eagle") among many other projects. Bob later became an auditor and was active in the Institute of Internal Auditors.

An avid distance runner and marathoner, Bob was a legendary organizer of memorable running experiences and coached weekly practices for the Northport Running Club. Always the engineer, Bob was incredibly innovative and capable, and whether it was aerospace engineering, construction projects, or his children's birthday parties, he made the impossible a reality, and reality unforgettable. Bob also had a passion for art and history and was famous for his story telling. Bob was a longtime devoted parishioner of St. Andrew's Orthodox Church in Dix Hills, NY.

Survivors in addition to Kathy, his beloved wife of 58 years, include his devoted daughters, Laurie Harrison (Scott), Beth Skirkanich (Bob Olson), and Jennifer Skirkanich (Craig Santoro), 4 cherished grandchildren, Christopher and Jordan Harrison, and Eli and Hannah Santoro, his brother, Bill Skirkanich and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by his sister, Suzanne Mulready (Ray).

Visitation on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 4-7 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, CT Panachida at 4:30 p.m.

A Requiem Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6th at 10 a.m. meeting directly at the Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, 364 Mill Hill Avenue Bridgeport, CT. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
