Robert A. Saksa Sr. (Socky), 74, of Shelton, Has gone to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 after his courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bridgeport on April 10, 1942, son of the late Anthony T. Saksa and Anna Popovich Saksa. He was the beloved and devoted husband of Marie A. Vernuccio Saksa and kind, caring and generous father to three children, Tina M. Saksa, Robert A. Saksa Jr., and his wife Kari and JoAnne L. Saksa. He was a loving and generous grandfather to Melissa Saksa, Dillon Raymond, Nicole Saksa and Savannah Smeriglio. He is also survived by a sister, Bonnie Saksa-Royce and her husband Steve, nephews and a niece, aunts and uncles and many cousins. Bob enjoyed growing up in Bridgeport with his very good friends whom he grew up with from infancy until his passing. Bob was a graduate of Bullard Havens High School class of 1960 where he learned his life long career of Plumbing. After high school he proudly joined the US Army and had the greatest experiences of his life in Korea and other locations. After the service Bob married his neighborhood sweetheart Marie. He went to work for Brooklawn Plumbing and Heating. He also worked for Bridgeport Gas Company. Bob started his own business with a partner, Automatic Plumbing and Heating and handed the business over to his son. Bob enjoyed vacations with his wife, hunting and fishing with his son and uncles in PA. Bob found the love of golf years later and traded his hunting and fishing equipment for golf clubs and joined the Whitney Farms Golf Club where he made many great friends. Bob was a member of the Bridgeport Elks 36, and a member of the American Legion Post 16. Bob always had a quick smile for all and had a great sense of humor and was very generous and caring to all who knew him. He was the hardest worker and greatest provider for his family. He was always a gentleman. Bob died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Please pay your respects to the family on Sunday, October 9, 2016 in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford from 2-5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's church, 424 Coram Avenue, Shelton. Interment will be held privately in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the family for an education fund for their grandchildren.
