On Thursday, April 14, 2016, Robert Roger Pivarnik passed away at the age of 78. He was completely surrounded by loved ones. Bob, known as "Poppy" to his family, was born on July 3, 1937, in Bridgeport, CT, and was a Connecticut resident most of his life. He was retired from the United States Navy Seabees, as a Chief Petty Officer, after 25 years of service, and was a member of Ironworkers Local 424. He was involved in community theatre, and was a member of the Polka Dot Playhouse. He loved life, travel, reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, cooking, music, and gardening. Above all these, he loved his family, and was cherished by them in return. Bob was predeceased by his brother, William C. Pivarnik, Jr. Bob is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail C. (Williams) Pivarnik, his children, Robert M. Pivarnik, Tracy M. Hazel (Gevon M. Bradley), and Lori M. Rahrig (William C. Rahrig), as well as by his brothers, Ronald E. Pivarnik, Richard J. Pivarnik (Linda Kell), and Daniel S. Pivarnik (Mary Ann Pivarnik). Bob is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Melissa A. Rahrig, Lindsay M. Provenzano (Paul A. Provenzano), Glenn D. Cacavollia, Jr., William M. Rahrig, Sarah M. Scheck (Brian P. Scheck), Matthew J. Rahrig, Amber M. Hazel, Davion Idlett-Hazel, and Lianna M. Hazel. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and fifteen nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to gather on Sunday, April 17, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford, CT, 06614. A funeral service on Monday, April 18, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home will be private.
