Robert F Hoctor, age 92, of Stratford, beloved husband of Dolores Zeitler Hoctor, passed away at home on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late James Hoctor and Marguerite Renouf, he was a 1952 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Rutgers University. He studied economics for a year at the University of Birmingham as a Fulbright Scholar. He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and retired as Captain from the Air Force Reserve.

He worked for GE in Bridgeport as an accountant until retirement. Throughout his lifetime he was also employed by Black and Decker, the Monroe Board of Education, the Oriental Society at Yale University and the Stratford Library and was a volunteer with several local organizations, including the Stratford Historical Society where he served as Treasurer. He was a member of St. Mark Church in Stratford.

Survivors in addition to his beloved wife of 68 years include his devoted children, John Hoctor and Lynne Auerbacher (husband, James) and grandson, Jeremy Auerbacher, niece Marguerite Cunningham and nephew Claude Varela. He was pre-deceased by a brother, James Hoctor and sister, Marie Varela.

Robert was a quiet, considerate man, always ready to help any who needed him. He loved his family and home, history, finance and reading. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice if desired.
