FRANKLIN – Robert A. Franklin, age 80 of Stratford, passed away on Monday July 18, 2005 in Lord Chamberlain Health Care Center Stratford. Mr. Franklin, a D-Day Veteran serving in Europe with the U.S. Navy and with the Marines serving in Okinawa, Japan and China, was born in Philadelphia, PA. to the late Reginald and Olive Franklin and has been a long time area resident. He was a retired science teacher having taught in Scarsdale, New York and Westport and Darien Connecticut. Survivors include his beloved wife Dorothy Onofrey Franklin, 2 sons Terrence Franklin of Amherst, MA, Theodore Franklin and his wife Joan of Fairfield, a daughter Dana Sullivan and her husband Jim of Lake Carmel, NY, 3 grandchildren Ryan Sullivan, Robbie and Elizabeth Franklin, 2 brothers Jerry Franklin of Queens, NY and Oliver Franklin of Norwalk, a sister Blanche Kent of Stratford, a sister-in-law Helen Furie and her husband Sid of Riverside and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will take place on Thursday July 21st at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in Stratford United Methodist Church with the Rev. Fred Jackson officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will be in St. John's Cemetery Stratford. Friends may call on Wednesday (Today) from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to Save the Whales or to the New England Air Museum.
