Dr. Robert Joseph Caserta, age 88. of Shelton, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, in his home. Born in Bridgeport on September 30, 1937, to the late Joseph and Rae (Attainese) Caserta, he has been a lifelong area resident. 

Bob graduated from the University of Connecticut, earned his master’s degree from Fairfield University, and completed his doctorate in Radiology at the University of Bologna in Italy. He completed his internship at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford and his residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. In 1981, Bob founded Merritt Radiology/Women’s Imaging, which he operated as a private practice until 2002. He later became an associate at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, New York, and retired from the practice of medicine in 2011. 

Survivors include his beloved wife, Kathleen (Devine) Caserta, 2 devoted children, Dawn Caserta and her husband Kevin Geignetter and Patrick Caserta and his wife Allison, 4 cherished grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Mia Geignetter, Devin and Oliver Caserta. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 10:30 am in St Lawrence Church in Shelton. All other services are private. The Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford has been entrusted with the arrangements.
