Obituary

Richard W. Tenk, 61, of Stratford, Connecticut passed away on March 26, 2026 at Bridgeport Hospital Hospice following a short and aggressive battle with lung cancer. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on July 13,1964 to the late Kalman and Nora Tenk.

A lifelong resident of the area, Richard graduated from Stratford High School in 1982. Shortly after finishing high school, Richard became a father to three daughters. He began his career alongside his father at Kal’s Auto Body, where he developed both a passion for cars and the skills that made him a talented auto body car painter. Richard continued his career for many years at several local auto body shops.

Richard had a deep love for music and even spent time DJing events. Known to friends as “RIP the ROCK” he proudly embraced the nickname as a tribute to his love for rock and roll. He especially enjoyed attending live concerts, Judas Priest being his favorite and often shared those experiences with his brother, Gary.

Beyond music, Richard found great joy in fishing. Whether knee-deep in the rivers of Pulaski NY with friends and family, or ice fishing on Bantam lake in the early hours of a cold morning, he was happiest on the water. In later years he spent much of his time fishing locally on his pontoon boat, “The Fish Tenk”.

Richard is survived by the love of his life, Kimberly Lacroix; his three beloved daughters Nicole (John), Kristin (Joel), Rachuel (Jack); his brother Gary (Kim); and his sister Cheryl. He is also survived by his grandchildren Mya, Damon, Avery, Rocco, Nora, Emmi and Brynn; nieces Mckenzy, Kallie, Carli and nephew, Jake. In addition, he leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and beloved friends from his fishing community. He was predeceased by his stepson and “First Mate,” Nicholas Cavanaugh.

Special thanks to Richard’s beloved sister, Cheryl who devoted her time to care for him in the final stages of his life.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 7, from 4:00-6:00 at Adzima Funeral Home, at 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. This gathering will honor both Richard and his father, Kalman, as the family was unable to hold a proper celebration of Kalman’s life during the COVID pandemic.

Burial will be private and held with immediate family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a local animal shelter in Richard’s memory.
