Obituary

Richard J. Saykosky, age 80, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Catherine Casey Saykosky, passed away on June 16, 2025.

Richard was born in Bridgeport on January 7, 1945, to the late John and Anna (Kovac) Saykosky. Richard was an active member of the local community and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a devoted family man who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his sister-in-law Regina Casey, brother-in-law Carlos Castillo, nephew Peter Casey, nieces Connie McCudden (and husband James) and Carlotta Castillo, cousin Kathryn Wood, and his longtime girlfriend Susan Galvin. Richard also leaves behind four great-nephews Matthew and Stephen McCudden and Samuel and Oliver Casey and two great-nieces Jennifer Porter Hynes and Jamie Porter. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Richard was pre-deceased by his brother James, sister Elizabeth Tackett, brother-in-law James Casey, sister-in-law Patricia Castillo and nephew James Porter.

Visitation is on Friday June 27th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, Stratford. Interment with full military honors will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Boothe Memorial Railway Society, located in Boothe Memorial Park in Stratford, CT or to the American Cancer Society.
