Obituary

Richard A. Novak, age 91, formerly of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Barbara Krehel Novak, passed away peacefully in his home on July 3, 2018 in Hillsboro NH. Born in Stratford to the late Joseph F. and Catherine (Blasej) Novak, Richard was a WWII veteran, having served his country in the US Army. After the service he worked driving buses for CR&L Bus Lines, and later retired as an auto body mechanic from Jim Barry Cadillac/Oldsmobile. Richard is survived by his sons, Joseph Novak of Milford, Steven and his wife Susan of Seymour, grandchildren, Steven Jr. and Jake Novak, both currently serving in the US Army, John and Jackie Novak of Milford. Richard also leaves behind his beloved companion of 40 years, Mrs. Virginia Cote of Keene, NH and several nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his brothers, Emil F, Raymond B and Steven Novak, sisters Emily Novajovsky, Helen Jezierny, and Anne Murray. Richards's passion was cats, and being at home with his cats was his thing to do. His wishes at the end of his life were to be in his home, no doctors, no hospitals, no medicine, and his son Steven and his wife Susan made sure his wishes were honored. Without the help of Virginia, none of this could have happened, as she was with Richard thru good and bad. Richard liked to see his son Joe, his nieces Cathy and Patty and nephew Blake when they would go see him. The last 6 months, Hannah his caregiver was the one who did the best to see that Richard was cared for, and it was Luanne who gave him a fan to make him happy as he left this world. Richard loved his country, and always said it was the land of the free and home of the brave, and because of the brave, he said God Bless President Trump, and God Bless America. Funeral services will take place on Monday, July 9 th at 10:30AM in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 11:00AM in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church Trumbull with the celebration of a Divine Liturgy.
