IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard A
Haslob Sr.
January 3, 1946 – May 13, 2017
Richard Alan Haslob Sr. ("Rich" to most), age 71, of Stratford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2017, at Bridgeport Hospital with his loving family by his side. Rich was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in 1946. Shortly after graduating in 1964 from Frank Scott Bunnell High School in Stratford, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and went on to fight for several years in the Vietnam War. Upon returning stateside, he worked in Bridgeport for over a decade as a machinist at Moore Special Tool Company. After his stint at Moore, he worked in his hometown for 25-plus years as a property manager at Oronoque Village, where he ended his career. A dedicated husband and father, Rich always did his best to provide for those he loved. He was loyal to a fault, ever ready to lend a helping hand—even if he feigned otherwise. Those close to him will remember his wry smile, kind heart, and inexhaustibly quirky sense of humor, which had the power to lighten even the heaviest moods. He will be sorely missed by those lucky enough to be touched by his life. He is survived by son Richard Haslob Jr.; son Erik Haslob and his wife, Cathy; daughter, Priscilla Haslob; brother Robert Haslob and his wife, Elaine; brother Donald Haslob and his wife, Kelly; brother Gary Haslob and his wife, Bobbie; sister-in-law, Mary Haslob; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of more than 37 years, Josephine Haslob; father and mother, Christian and Mary Haslob; brother Christian Haslob Jr.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Maria Crainich; sister-in-law, Adele Mulhearn; and brother-in-law, John Namor. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, technicians, and others who helped Rich through his illness and did their best to keep him comfortable until the end. Relatives and friends may call any time from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 19, at Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
