Richard C. Bedat (Dick), age 79, went to be with the Lord on August 6, 2008 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born in Bridgeport on May 28, 1929 to Charles and Frances (Erst) Bedat. He was a foreman at the former Borden Dairy for 33 years and then worked for Perkin Elmer in the Maintenance Dept. His last employment, until 2006, was with Nalco Chemical Company where he would do water testing on water towers and boilers throughout the State and New York. In his spare time, Dick was always on call to help whoever needed it if it had to do with refrigeration and air conditioning. He loved to mow the lawn on his tractor and was so proud of his yard. Dick put up a brave and courageous battle against kidney cancer for the past 3 years. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years Virginia (Ginger) (Hallquist Michaud) Bedat, 4 sons, Richard C. Bedat, Jr. of San Mateo, CA, Thomas Bedat of Ft. Lauderdale, FL., Richard Michaud and his wife Jane of Madison, CT and Brian Michaud and Cathie-Rose of Slingerlands, NY. He was so proud of his grandchildren, Corey, Tyler and Emily Grace Michaud. He is also survived by brothers Raymond and his wife Margie of Melbourne Beach, FL and Charles Bedat of Lynchburg, VA as well as several very special nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by an infant son, David Bedat and brother Harold Bedat. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford. Funeral services will be held DIRECTLY on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Black Rock Congregational Church, Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield. Interment will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery in Milford.
