Richard M. Anderson Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on April 26, 2026. He was born and raised in Stratford, CT, on November 25, 1945. Son of late Richard M. Anderson Sr. and Dorothea (Lynch) Anderson
Richard graduated from Bunnell High School, class of 1964. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Vietnam. After four years of military service, he worked for United Parcel Services for 30 years. Richard had a great regard for sports, so much so that he volunteered as a coach for Stratford's wrestling team and Pop Warner, Stratford's youth football league. He loved playing golf, and he would bring some of the grandkids to the beach to practice their swings. In his spare time, Richard rode his Harley motorcycle and was a member of the Blue Knights. Richard also enjoyed boating with his five children and wife and was a member of the East End Yacht Club.
Richard was predeceased by his sister, Dorethea (Anderson) Elwell. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Crudo) Anderson, with whom he shared a 58-year marriage. Richard is also survived by his five children: Ann-Marie (Anderson) Gaffney (Michael); Richard Anderson, (Lesley); William Anderson (Tish); Kathryn Anderson (Ralph Lisanti) and Jason Anderson (Maria). He leaves behind ten grandchildren, Kayla Newall, Alexa Stultz, Zachary Anderson, Troy Anderson, Mackenzie Leszko, Tyler Newall, Caroline Leszko, Kaden Anderson, Jason Anderson, and Ashlyn Anderson. Richard is also survived by his loyal hound dog, Allie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 8th, 2026, at St. Mark Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT. at 11:30 A.M. Doors will open at 11:00 A.M., allowing time to console the family. Interment with military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
In lieu of flowers: Please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, in remembrance of Richard M Anderson Jr. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Adzima Funeral Home- Stratford.
