Peter (Pete) Samoskevich, 87, a resident of Newtown for over 50 years, died peacefully with family & friend by his side on March 15, 2022.

Pete grew up in Trumbull and was the last remaining in his family of five siblings. In his early years, he was a truck driver for Buckley Brothers Shell and ended with a long career at SNET, where he took early retirement at 62 years old. Pete loved to play golf and was an established member of Whitney Farms Men's Club. He also played may courses in Myrtle Beach, SC., where he and his wife, Christine, were snowbirds for more than 15 years. Pete never met a stranger. Known around town for his sense of humor, he could be found supporting many Newtown sport events. He spent many years mentoring (and razzing) the players. From Little League, football, basketball and softball. In his earlier days, he was a member and treasurer of the Turkey Roost Rod & Gun Club. He attended many field trials and was very proud of his Brittany Spaniels, which he raised from pups. He was also a fixture at Dunkin Donuts and Newtown Exxon for decades. Pete was a collector of many things: Hess trucks, matchbooks, hats, coins, and endless golf balls, just to name a few. He was a member of Newtown P&Z committee for years and took great pride in doing so. He simply loved Newtown.

He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Christine. His daughter Paula (Jason) Dayton, of Newtown, his son David, of Danbury and granddaughter, Emma. Sister-in-law, Pauline Meath of Monroe. Special friends Nick & Melissa Kopcik and Scott Standish of Newtown and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may visit on Friday, March 18 ^th from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home. 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford.  There will be a prayer service at 11:45 a.m.  Interment with full military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Stratford.
