Obituary

– Peter Nidoh, age 91 of Stratford passed away on Saturday December 15, 2007 in St. Vincent's Medical Center Bridgeport. Mr. Nidoh, a graduate of Scranton Technical High School was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Peter and Mary (Gulyk) Nidoh and has been a long time area resident. He enlisted in the Army during World War # II as an Infantryman in 1943. He served in North France, Rhineland and Holland where he was wounded in action. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Thr Ser Medal, EAME Thr Ser Medal with 2 Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal and was honorably discharged in 1946. Peter was a member of St. Michael's RC Church in Bridgeport. His family was his greatest joy and he cherished all time spent together. He loved the game of baseball from an early age and played baseball for the Civilian Conservation Corp and semi-professionally with a farm team associated with the NY Yankees. He worked for Bodine Corp, Fairfield, Metropolitan Body, Bridgeport and Textron (AVCO) Lycoming, Stratford as a Mechanical Inspector, retiring in 1981. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years Mary Hodowanitz Nidoh, his 2 devoted sons Donald Nidoh and his wife Gayle of Cheshire and Michael Nidoh of Shelton, 2 grandchildren David of Washington DC and Laura of Cheshire, 2 sisters Mary Aniska and Helen Zelinski both of Scranton and 32 nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by 8 brothers, John, Joseph, William, Paul, Steven, Nicholas, Martin and Michael, and 2 sisters Susan and Anne. Funeral services will take place on Thursday December 20, 2007 at 9:15 a.m. in the Adzima Funeral Home 50 Paradise Green Place Stratford and at 10 a.m. in St. Michael the Archangel Church Bridgeport for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment with full military honors in St. John's Cemetery Monroe. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations to St. Michael's Church
